I had a strong love for music, and was lucky enough to find four others that shared somewhat similar aspirations. Bands are a great source of support, as well as an amazing opportunity to rock the hell out. What gives me inspirations are people that do amazing things...crazy bass players, freaky artists, a really well written book.
With touring I like seeing the country, playing in places we've never played before for people that have never seen us before, and seeing their faces change (hopefully). Recording lets you step back and hear what you're playing, what everyone else is playing and appreciate it as a whole. Live, I'm so focused on playing well that I don't see the whole picture. There aren't any rules. Anything goes. I like to go off, play crazy lines that I don't normally play. I think I only improve when I play live, because that's when I take chances. The best live show so far was opening for Third Eye Blind. The crowd was insane and huge. And very open to us. They were so supportive. Gained quite a bunch of fans that night. And the monitors were super good. Could hear everything quite well.

What kind of car do you drive?
Black '98 Rodeo

My black and silver Pumas

Corn Flakes or Cookie Crisp

Favorite place you've visited?
London

Who do you respect?
Anyone that deserves it.

What have you been doing lately?
Not much. Movies, recording, eating a lot.

If Phantom Planet was a food, what would it be and why?
Arugula...lots of different tastes and colors.

The best and worst thing about girls?
Best: their mysteriousness; Worst: same thing

Describe your most recent nightmare
Haven't had too many recently, but if I remember I'll let you know.

Describe your most recent dream
The whole band, along with all of my friends were on spring break at a hotel in Hawaii, and I'll just say that everyone was having a really good time.

What's the worst thing that ever happened to you?
I tried something really stupid that made me frighteningly sick. I thought I wouldn't ever return to myself again. I've never been so scared in my life. That was a good lesson, I'd say.

The best?
The first show we played. It was such an ethereal world on that stage. Wasn't really sure if I had dided and gone to heaven...or if heaven had come down to earth. Amazing.

What do you do everyday?
Wake up at noon, sit down & work on things like this, answer email, etc., get food with the boys, rehearse, see a movie, come back to my house with as many friends as possible, party all night, sleep, repeat.

Favorite films?
Shawshank Redemption, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Clockwork Orange, Hunt for Red October, Three Amigos, Star Wars, Big, Die Hard, and so many more.

Dream girl?
I get shit for this all the time, but Jennifer Love Hewitt. And recently, Heidi Klum.

If you weren't doing this, what would you be doing?
At school, teaching, another band playing completely different things.

If you could be someone else for a day, who would it be?
I'd like to be MC Escher for a day. Just to see how his brain worked.

What do you think about when you play live?
Blow people away...What can I do to freak people out?...How about this?...Yeah that worked...Got to remember that bass line for next show...Something like that goes through my head.

What is important?
Happiness, understanding, patience, courage, feelings, honesty.

Any near death experiences?
I was almost drowned by a rambunctious young friend of mine who thought it was funny to get on my back and force me underwater. But that was a long time ago.

What other musicians do you admire?
Stuart Zender of Jamiroqual, Pnut and Chad Sexton of 311, Jaco Pastorius, Tim Alexander of Primus, Paul McCartney, Matt Chamberlain of Critters Buggin...and so many more.

If you could change anything about America, what would it be?
The media. Hate it.

What would you like to tell your fans?
Rock out, create something.
